Suggested Travel Itinerary

 Fairlie Basin, New Zealand.

Day One: Christchurch – Fairlie
> Welcome to Fairlie – the gateway to the Mackenzie
> Mountainbike to Lake Opuha, fish in the lake or enjoy a short walk
> Lunch at one of the many cafes, visit shops in town
> Then call into the Fairlie Heritage Museum
> Stay the night at one of many Fairlie accommodation options including a farmstay

 Church of the Good Shepherd, Lake Tekapo, New Zealand.


Day Two:
Fairlie – Lake Tekapo
> Leaving Fairlie visit the Kimbell Art Gallery and St Patrick’s Church at Burkes Pass
> Arrive Tekapo. Visit the famous Church of the Good Shepherd and Sheepdog Statue along side the turquoise lake
> Enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot pools, or indulge in a massage
> Stay at one of many Lake Tekapo accommodation options in the area
> Experience the educational stargazing tour at Mount John Observatory

 Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealand.


Day Three:
Lake Tekapo – Mount Cook
> Walk or drive up Mt John. Enjoy a coffee and spectacular 360 degree panoramic views of the Mackenzie Basin, Southern Alps and Aoraki Mount Cook
> Visit a salmon farm located alongside the Hydro Canal Road
> Visit the Lake Pukaki Visitor Centre for all your travel information and booking requirements.
> Enjoy a scenic flight on the way to Mount Cook. Some even land on the snow. 
> Stop at Glentanner Park Centre for heli flights, heli biking, horse trekking and many other activities
> Stay in Mount Cook at one of several accommodation options available

Day Four:
Mount Cook – Twizel
> Mount Cook Visitor Centre for information on walks in the Mount Cook National Park. Take a guided 4WD tour or enjoy a boat ride on the glacial lakes
> For the more adventurous, pump your blood with mountain climbing, ski the Tasman Glacier or take a skydive (based at Pukaki airport)
> Get some local takeout food and enjoy a picnic lunch at Lake Ruataniwha
> Go boating, kayaking or fishing
> Stay at one of Twizel’s many bed & breakfasts, lodges or motels

Day Five: Twizel – Queenstown
> After a leisurely breakfast, visit the DOC Kaki Black Stilt recovery programme
> Head south following SH8 to Wanaka or Queenstown
