Here three springs flow and join to form a creek call Silverstream, the original name for Kimbell, but this was later changed to avoid confusion with a Silverstream in Otago. 

Today there is a country pub, a garage, an art studio and gallery that is well worth a visit.  Mt Dobson Ski Area is located northwest 19km from Kimbell.
